I approach therapy as a collaborative process that centres people as the experts in their own lives. I see problems as separate from people and believe individuals have many skills, competencies, and abilities that will assist them to reduce the influence of problems in their lives.
Collaborative therapy is about participating in conversations that open
up possibilities and ideas. We create stories throughout our lives as a way to make sense of our experiences and the world around us. When we put language
to our experiences and to our hopes and intentions, we start to construct meaning and understanding. Exploring in this way helps us to widen our view of self, challenge old and unhealthy beliefs, and to open our minds to new ways of living that reflect a more accurate and healthy story.
